For a proper understanding of the present Synod on the synodality of the Church, it is essential to define the concepts well in order to understand them correctly, which will allow to find the way to the best implementation of the intended ideas. Pope Francis himself, through his numerous statements, reveals his intention in relation to the event convened and planned for more than two years. Therefore, it seems appropriate to ask: Why this Synod? What does his calling and subject mean? Francis' statements clearly show that the synodal assembly is a form of realizing his desire to reform the Church in the face of the deficiencies and shortcomings that he discerns in our time. Among the reasons for calling the Synod, two seem to be particularly important. The first is to renew and intensify the community as the only proper form of the Church’s life. The second is the necessity of dialogue as a method of evangelization today.
