TOWARDS AN UNDERSTANDING OF ECCLESIAL SYNODALITY
Abstract
Pope Francis, opening the 16th General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on the topic:
Towards a synodal Church: communion, participation, mission not only wants bishops to be
involved in his work, but also invites all the baptized to participation in the process of listening
and discerning God’s will for Church. It is not to be a revolution, coup and overthrow of anything,
but rather a renewal of that what has been its basic element since the beginning of the Church –
listening to and discerning God’s will.
