MONASTIC CHAPTERS AS AN EXPRESSION OF SYNODALITY

Abstract

The institution of the monastic chapter has its own centuries-old tradition. Over the centuries,
it has taken on a different specificity depending on the proposed spirituality. The monastic
chapter is an example of how properly understood synodality should be put into practice. The detailed
norms worked out by the monastic chapter there are now found in general church legislation
and in proper law. They define the nature, composition, procedural rules and duration of chapters.
Individuals and institutions involved in the synodal process should draw their knowledge from
the centuries-old tradition of a proven institutional form of management, participation and responsibility.

Keywords:
