JOHN PAUL II AND THE UNITED EUROPE. CONTINUATION OF THE TEACHING OF THE POLISH POPE IN RELATION TO THE PROBLEMS OF CONTEMPORARY EUROPE

Grzegorz Zajączkowski

Abstract

The uniting Europe is an international process unparalleled anywhere else. Member States are relin-quishing some of their powers to supranational institutions. Despite many successes, the European project also brings with it problems. Their sources were mentioned many times by Pope John Paul II during his pontificate. The Pope’s teaching was and is being continued by his successors: Benedict XVI and Francis. The article presents the aspects pointed out by the Polish Pope, their use and updating to the current situation by successive popes.
