THE PHENOMENON OF MIGRATION IN THE ENCYCLICAL LETTER CARITAS IN VERITATE OF BENEDICT XVI AND THE APOSTOLIC EXHORTATION AMORIS LAETITIA OF FRANCIS
Abstract
The issue of migration, whether for economic reasons or due to armed conflicts or persecution, remains particularly relevant in today’s world. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that successive popes address this issue in official Church documents. The aim of this article is to present how the phenomenon of migration is described by popes: Benedict XVI in the encyclical Caritas in veritate and Francis in the apostolic exhortation Amoris laetitia. Both of them view migration in the perspective of Christian love and interpret this phenomenon as a sign of the times.
