CHURCH OF THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY IN GODZIESZÓW, THE PLACE OF THE LAST MINISTRY OF BLESSED S. ANIELA SCHRAMM

Sławomir Kowalski

Abstract

The celebration of every jubilee is always an opportunity to reflect on the past. According to sources, mentions of the existence of a Catholic church in Godzieszów date back to 1420, although some trace its origins slightly earlier, as far back as 1346. The development of pastoral life weakened with the arrival of the Reformation. It was only when the Sisters from Luban took over the patronage of the Catholic community in Godzieszów that pastoral development continued. In 1833, there was a reconstruction of the church. During World War II, the parish priest was killed by Soviet soldiers, and as a result of bombing, the church suffered significant damage.
