Sacrum space in culture and its reference to analogy, allegory and metaphor

Abstract

The axis of considerations in this study is formed by the intuition of spatial imagination for the sacrum zone. The perspective is defined by reflections based on philosophy and theology but extends to a broad, humanistic interdisciplinary spectrum. The first part attempts to grasp the concept of the sacrum in its relation to culture and religion, as well as the understanding of space. The second part analyzes its occurrence in the context of three linguistic figures: metaphor, analogy, and allegory. Examples are drawn from the world of popular culture: fiction, cinematography, and popular music.
