Christ lives (Christus vivit) – those are the words used by
Pope Francis to start the apostolic exhortation published on
25 March 2019, during the ceremony of Annunciation. This
nine-chapter document has been devoted to young people. Of
course, it does not only refer to those who are in this particular
period of human life. According to Pope Francis, being young
is a „state of the heart”; that is why the whole Church remains
young, although it is an old institution. „It is young when it
remains itself, when it receives new strength from His Word,
the Eucharist, and everyday presence of Christ. It is young
when it knows how to go back to its roots” (Christus vivit 35).
Young people are the witnesses of enthusiasm, magnanimity,
and social friendship. They have life pulsating in them without
a final definition. They start and run. They feel that they touch
freedom, grasp it and keep on tasting it.
