Regional Integration According to Catholic Social Teaching

Tomasz Grzegorz Grosse

Abstract

The article presents the model of regional integration implemented in Western Europe after World War II, which has not been changed by the subsequent accessions of new European states. The author diagnoses the most significant dysfunctions of this model and then confronts them with the principles of Catholic social teaching, seeking inspiration for outlining an alternative model of regional integration. Finally, he assesses the chances of introducing reforms in the regional integration project, and thus the possibility of building an alternative model of cooperation in Europe.
