Representations of social microstructures among delinquent minors in the criminal subculture. An analysis from the perspective of Serge Moscovici’s theory

Kacper Radzki

Abstract

The article explores the issue of social representations of microstructure constructed by socially maladjusted youth involved in criminal subcultures. The study is grounded in Serge Moscovici’s theory, particularly the mechanisms of anchoring and objectification. Conducted in a correctional facility, the research employed methodological triangulation: the Bogardus Social Distance Scale and semi-structured interviews. The results reveal a coherent representational system that organizes the social reality of the youth and legitimizes a subcultural order based on violence, loyalty, and resistance toward institutions. The article contributes to the sociology of marginalization and resocialization, offering practical guidelines for educational and value-based interventions.
