Persons Responsible for Social Solidarity

Andrzej Zwoliński

Abstract

The response to the threat of sin in the form of social injustice and the economic exploitation of the weaker is the call to build a society based on solidarity, where the stronger and wealthier take responsibility for the weaker and poorer, aware of the bonds that unite them as one human family. The demand for tolerance is not enough, as it is merely a sufficient condition for the existence of justice, but it does not bring it about, let alone ensure it. It is only in solidarity that the suffering and hardship of others are recognized as one’s own responsibility, and their mitigation or even elimination is seen as one’s own task.
